(30 April 2021) - The Development Partner Institute (DPI Mining) is delighted to welcome Schneider Electric on board as a Supporter for the Responsible Sourcing Coalition, or RESCO. DPI and Schneider share a vision for sustainability across the whole value chain and are committed to furthering the conversations and work amongst stakeholders to drive responsible sourcing in the mining sector.

“It is a privilege to welcome Schneider Electric as a key supporter of the work we’re doing in RESCO, and their funding will be used to continue the momentum and energy building around this responsible sourcing coalition as we move into our next phase” said Executive Director Wendy Tyrrell.

Chairman and co-founder of DPI Mining, Peter Bryant, welcomed Schneider Electric: “It’s great to have Schneider’s support and participation in RESCO given that their vision and values align to ours, as demonstrated by their strong support in the formation of DPI”.

The Responsible Sourcing Coalition is a coalition for an ethical mining value chain, mine to consumer. It brings together organisations and individuals from right across the mineral value chain. DPI recognizes that a company’s choice to source responsibly has profound impacts across the value chain in challenging the manufacturers, fabricators, and companies that mine the raw metals and minerals. RESCO exists to accelerate the creation of a ‘whole of value chain’ response to responsibly sourcing minerals and metals to ultimately drive more demand for responsibly sourced practices and products, a mission Schneider Electric is committed to.

Processing and purifying these critical resources must be done in the most sustainable way.”

“As the world’s most sustainable company, Schneider Electric is pushing itself and helping others to do better. We know that our connected, electric, renewable energy world requires resources and therefore extraction, processing and purifying these critical resources must be done in the most sustainable way,” wrote David Willick, VP and Regional Leader, North America Mining, Metals and Minerals Segment. “Since there are no substitutes for the elements, we are focused on sustainable sourcing through our entire supply chain.”

In partnership with Schneider Electric and The Rockefeller Foundation, DPI’s Responsible Sourcing Coalition is continuing through 2021 to lead a multi-stakeholder effort to identify and fill gaps in the whole of value chain conversation. We look forward to building a new future for mining together. Learn more about RESCO here and contact us if you would like to become a RESCO Supporter too.
